More folks learning how to make porn
» Amorous Capitalism
Folks with the entrepreneurial spirit are taking classes like How to Shoot Your own Live Adult Video and How to Start a Sex Business of Fun or Profit in New York. Selling sex is becoming a popular home business.
Christine, a chiropractor, was interested in manufacturing glow-in-the-dark sex toys and in scented candles shaped like erotic parts of the human anatomy. Another student who gave his name as Mark said he wanted to shoot his own amateur porn videos and sell them on a Web site, an idea he came up with after reading one of the thousands of spam e-mails that flood his in-box.
Adult education: porn attracts serious pupils

I actually know a thing or two about this. Having retired from a 25year career in restaurant management so I might open an adult (gay) web site. I place ads for models and interview and shoot the models and edit the pictures and build the galleries and post the pictures.
I’m sure one could get a cheap digital camera and start shooting porn tomorrow, of that there is no doubt. But starting a business is…well… Starting A Business and if you don’t know how to start and run a business then you are destined to failure.
In addition there are a lot of students in film school that would be interested in how one becomes a professional photographer in 7 weeks. Tiny little details like composition and lighting come to mind.
I have years of running a business under my belt. I studied Web site building for 2 years I studied Photography for 3 years ( I still learn things daily) And I studied Photo editing for two years. As of today my site holds just over 18,000 pictures. Each picture edited one at a time each picture posted one at a time.
I am 4 years into my site and have just begun to make money. ( I expected to move into the black in 5 years so I’m a little bit ahead of schedule)
Richard, the writer of Amorous Propensities operates a wonderful bookstore and is a businessman. And I’m sure understands all too well, the work, no the WORK involved in starting and running a business.
To anyone wanting to start their own porn business I would say go to Google and type in “Porn” there is your competition.
Good luck.

Tom is too civil to post a link to his gay adult website so I’ll do it for him: Midnight Sun Studios.

Interesting comments! I used to work for the legal system and hated it. Maybe I’ll never get rich photographing porn but it is a hell of a lot more fun and the people are very nice. I have a lot to learn yet. Carl in Seattle
P.S. Good luck Diana :)

In regards to the small business web:
Having built multiple online stores, and helping multiple small business use the web to augment their income with a web presence, I would like to provide some quick pointers.
First and foremost, understand your market. Know who your target audience is and ideas on how to reach them.
Start now with domain name presence, even if you don’t have much to put up yet. There is a theory called the “Sand Box” and that some believe search engines will index new sites for up to 6 months. Personally, I do not believe this, but have seen new sites stuck on ranking.
While you don’t have to know the in’s and out’s of SEO, Search Engine Optimization, a healthy understanding will remove some of the mysticism and allow you to make informed decisions when contracting the work out. Understanding point #1 will greatly help here.
This is not a get-rich-quick scheme. If it were, then everyone would be doing i.
This is not easy. See #4 ;)
The actual mechanics of the site can be as simple or as elaborate as you wish. I would suggest looking into Zen Cart, or OSCommerce, both free stores you can configure and run. With some creativity, and ingenuity you can configure them to your own tastes.
This is by no means a comprehensive list, but for those of you thinking about adventuring into online marketing/sales I say it can be quite an interesting ride.
I would like to add, this is not a sales pitch. I am horrible at web graphics and layout, but there are many talented ppl out there, itching to make a name for themselves.
If you have any questions, or would like some links to sites that can help clarify the above, feel free to write.
