The results of a (ahem) study in the Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine are showing up all over the place.
Sure to delight both the prudish and the high-minded. I mean can you believe that movies are showing people using drugs and having a good time. Not to mention having sex without complications.
We're talking about the fluff made in Hollywood. Multi-zillion dollar crap made to amuse the masses. There's a reason those movies make tons of money: people watch them to escape their humdrum life. Not to be edified.
Did you know that in all these movies the only condom mentioned was by Julia Roberts when talking to Richard Gere in Pretty Woman?
But in 98% of sexual episodes, which could have resulted in pregnancy, no form of birth control was used or suggested.
Sounds like people in movies get more out of pot than I generally do:
Fifty-two per cent of cannabis usage was shown in a positive light and 48% in a neutral light with no negative consequences.
BFI isn't impressed:
But Edward Lawrenson, deputy editor of the British Film Institute's Sight and Sound magazine, said: "I don't think it's the role of the film industry to educate the public about public health.
"If it was incumbent on every screenwriter to punish his or her character for having sex with a dreadful STI, films wouldn't be very enjoyable."
