Parents Television Council - folks with an agenda - claim that American television shows people getting more out of sex - including atypical sex - than wedlock.
Shocking, no?
- When ever any group does this kind of counting it needs to be audited by someone with no vested interest in the outcome.
- Sex generally is fun - in or out of marriage - this simply is true.
- Marriages generally don’t last. That has been clear for some time. Especially since the economic incentive for women to endure life with a lout vanished.
- Many of us enjoy sexual self-expression that doesn’t match what are imagined to be the norms and are glad to see TV in the US reflect that.
As for references to pornography, sex toys and “kinky” behavior, those are now common on TV, the report said. Visual references to practices such as voyeurism and sadomasochistic sex outnumbered married-sex references by a ratio approaching 3 to 1.
