A Hot Car Makes a Man a Hottie
More sexist science, this time from the British Journal of Psychology.
The the tests the psychologists ran:
The university team showed women pictures of the same man sitting in two cars - a £70,000 silver Bentley Continental and a battered Ford Fiesta.
Mr. Scientist says:
Dr Michael Dunn, of the University of Wales Institute in Cardiff, said it shows women rate a man higher if he is behind the wheels of a “fancy motor rather than in an old banger”
Women more attracted to men in expensive cars
I can imagine that if women are asked to rate an image of a strange male that is there is no other difference they’ll choose almost any sign of affluence.
Mostly I see a potential design flaw: if one of the examples is a man in a battered car an observer may conclude that he is unemployed or a man who lacks self-respect. I wouldn’t particularly agree with those assessments but in an unknown person indifference to appearance is often viewed as a sign of weak or even bad character.
