Female Breast Size: The Obsession
» Amorous Scholarship
Some cultural historians say that larger breasts on a woman have been admired for millennia.
Others fault mass media, everything from Playboy to music videos.
Blaming the media is a favorite sport of just about anyone who as an axe to grind with society. It is 'them' not 'us' or 'me.' Put the blame on money, vested interests: never on the responding individual.
(If you are wondering about my own vested interest: yep, I like large teats. Medium ones, small ones and since I like guys, perfectly flat chests.)
Seems like one of those classic chicken and egg scenarios. Who was on first?
When did the preference first express itself? Is there some inherent evolutionary impulse? Did - as Richard Dawkins might put it - did women with larger breast make better ancestors?
Or did men develop an unnatural fixations somewhere between ancient Assyria and a few decades ago?
And since many men fall happily in lover with women of ordinary bra sizes and flat chested women does it really matter?
'I don't think the anxiety (to conform) was created by the media. The need has to be there first.
'You can't sell it to the people if they don't desire it,' said Mr Skalberg who has been in the advertising industry for 20 years.
For this ideal figure, some women would do just about anything from buying a push-up bra to getting their breasts augmented.
