ID Required Before Transgendered May Pee

Here's an ugly new legal twist. If you are a transperson you'll have to submit documentation before using a public restroom or shower.

Commissioners are united in their support for such a law; the sticking point is whether it should include a requirement that people claiming to be of a certain gender show proof - such as a driver's license or therapist's letter - that they really are that gender. A person's genitalia would not necessarily reflect that gender.

...being a "true" transgendered woman, I certainly know of "obstacles" that are presented to us by society. Even for me, this is a difficult issue to address, as I do know that there are many "so called professing" trans-women out there who are not trans-women at all, and it does make it difficult for the true trans-woman to transition into society easily. However I am sure that this legislation isn't because of that. And so I have to respond by saying that I think it is very discriminatory, no different that it would be for anyone else with a "birth defect" who is denied ANY public service due to their birth defect. Do they want someone who in all appearences a woman, entering the Mens Room..?? I think not, and so where are we to pee ?? I think if they intend to right this into law, then perhaps they should also write into law that every public establishment build additional restrooms for transgendered women, just like they make you place ramps for handicap folks. Do you think most business owners would like to spend thousands of dollars on that? I think not. Anyway my 2 cents worth
