Gender Outsiders: Transgendered & Others

HBO's America Undercover presents Middle Sexes: Redefining He and She:

Narrated by Gore Vidal, whose 1968 satire, Myra Breckinridge, played with the idea of gender-shifting long before many people even imagined such things, and written and directed by Antony Thomas, Middle Sexes also looks at the role different cultures play in coming to terms with people who can't easily check off M or F on a standard form.

From the hijiras of India, who have themselves castrated and live in groups as a "third sex," to the lady-boys of Thailand, who may or may not choose to be surgically altered, Thomas' subjects show a remarkable diversity even within their own categories, suggesting a definition of sexuality far more fluid than many of us are used to.

Comments

I think a person should be able to be who they want to be as long as they are happy. I have frinds very dear to me that do not have the same beliefs as me, that is fine, I still Love them for who they are. Some are born not who they want to be so it is ok to be who you want as long as no one gets hurt .

How do you feel?

Feel free to share your feelings about Redefining He and She. Please stick to the theme of the entry. Disagreement is fine. Homophobia, racism, and kindred expressions of hatred will be deleted. This site is one of my hobbies. I genuinely enjoy hearing from people and hate moderating or killing comments. Forthright disagreement is fine as long as it is civil.
My thanks,
