Gender Outsiders: Transgendered & Others

I envision a continually growing collection of academic articles, essays, news items, book reviews, and commentary - all about Thai transgendered men (known as katoey*). I remember well the frustration I felt several years ago when I first tried to gather information about katoey in English.

Transgender in Thailand

Greetings. I find myself fascinated with some of these “shemales,” “Katoey,” or “ladyboys.” In my view, some of them are truly beautiful and I am inclined to accept them at face value as beautiful individuals, not as freaks. Also, while I do not consider myself homosexual in inclination, I find that I might well enjoy a relationship with one of these “gals.” Do, by the way, consider that everyone…e.g., in terms of Jungian psychology, has a female and a male side.

Hey..

Just finished a segment on the Thai kathoey, in a university class I’m taking. Just wanted to tell you that I love what you’re doing, here. Ever heard of a Native American of the Crow tribe named “Finds Them and Kills Them”? My favorite, in the historical sense.

All people should be able to accept beauty and accept their fellow humans..

I have been to Thailand 4 times now on business so I am not a sex tourist.

Every time I go I am amazed at the beauty of the so called “lady boys” I do not consider myself to be gay as a hairy manly male is not my thing but I have no problem and infact enjoy sex with a slim passionate lady boy.

In my view it has added a new dimention to my sexual outlook and life!!

treat a lady boy nicely and they make wonderful partners and lovers!!

How do you feel?

Feel free to share your feelings about Thai "ladyboys", "katoey", "kathoey". Please stick to the theme of the entry. Disagreement is fine. Homophobia, racism, and kindred expressions of hatred will be deleted. This site is one of my hobbies. I genuinely enjoy hearing from people and hate moderating or killing comments. Forthright disagreement is fine as long as it is civil.
My thanks,
Richard
