LONDON -- Athletes who have undergone sex change operations will be eligible to compete in the Olympics for the first time under new rules being finalized by the IOC. ...

One reason for the change was that not all women have standard female chromosomes. In addition, there are cases of people who have ambiguous genitalia or other congenital conditions.

If ftm trannies can compete taking female hormones, then if a woman born woman takes testosterone, what's the difference? It's all a bit false isn't it? Wouldn't a trannie ftm athelete always have a physical advantage over a wbw ? Remember the famous tennis match between Martina Navratilova and a trannie (forget her name but she was previousouly seeded at -40 in the men's rankings) and the trannie squarely trounced Martina... who gives a squidelypoo who wins an olympic final, but if some women athletes win over others because they used to be in the body of a man, that won't be very nice for women who never had that hormonal advantage in their lives. How queer.

I think you're talking about Renee Richards, who played in the US Open in 1977. She beat some of the other top 10 players but never beat the likes of Martina Navratilova, or Chris Evert, or Tracy Austin. You might be thinking of later on, when the two becamefriends, and Navratilova hired Richards to coach her. By all accounts Richards was a better coach than player, and helped M.N. take two US Open titles. Also, the ruling says that FTM athletes are eligible to compete with other MEN, not against women. That would be unfair, due to testosterone levels and physical changes in FTM bodies. MTF athletes are the ones competing with women, and do not have a hormonal advantage over women; like other women, they don't have anything producing testosterone in their bodies at all, and the changes they might have had at puberty from testosterone (the new olympic regulations also cover pre-puberty MTFs and FTMs) are generally reversed, including skeletal and muscular changes. In any case, MTF athletes tend to be well within "average" parameters for female athletes, which is why they don't dominate in international competition. (See Minnie Bagger, Michelle Dumaresque)

Hi. Some errors in the post by me as I only get an hour at a library computer. First off, I did not make it near Athens and as far I know no TSs competed, several were reportedly going to such as Dumaresq of Canada. I am sad to see some gays in S.Africa are persecuting TSs let's send them to Mars. Some protested persecution of TS by the gay Human Rights Campaign group in Washington in August, see NTAC for it. HRC went to the Secret Service on me in 00 as I supported Bush, lesbian Gore backer Eliabeth Birch got all upset, I forced her out later as director by going on talk radio, threatening suit, but got a 350 pagee SS file from it. A US attorney stopped it, bogus. I will send copies of part of it to you all for $20, foreign $25. Persecution of TSs by many gays, lesbians is nothing newe, some tried to kill me since 70 for forming the Transsexual Action organization, libel me in books, tried tomframe me on crimes, set me up, spy on, stalk me, but I have dealt effectively with most of them. I had been TS all my life and left music in 69 to deal with it, became Angela Douglas, a writer, then founded the TAO in 70, got very famous with it based in Miami to 76, hundreds of members in five nations, remnants still exist. Never even met The Doors, but they got signed with Electra by Arthur Lee. I am not James Douglkas Morrison who apparently died in paris in l97l (not l969.) The Doors, familynthink he faked his death. Incredibly, we were both born in 43, he in Florida, me in michigan, I grew up mostly in Florida in the Air Force, he in the Navy, he left Tallahassee in 63-64 for LA he had attended FSU, I left Miami in 65 for LA and got lee's new band hired at Bido Lito's (see on web), a club helped get open, sang with him a bit, cut two of my songs later with love members. I was born Douglas Carl Czinki, he was born James Douglas Morrison, so there are some incredible similarities with out lives I can't explain, supernatural. I can sound very much like him when I sing, however, despite the sex change.

How do you feel?

Feel free to share your feelings about Transsexuals allowed in Olympics. Please stick to the theme of the entry. Disagreement is fine. Homophobia, racism, and kindred expressions of hatred will be deleted. This site is one of my hobbies. I genuinely enjoy hearing from people and hate moderating or killing comments. Forthright disagreement is fine as long as it is civil.
