Women looking at naked men

Amorous Links , • Erotica , • Gender Studies

You probably aren't old enough to remember the slinky seductress who promoted Night Owl cigars. Or the women who declared there's "Something about the Aqua Velva man." And let us not forget the girls who when their man went back to Brylcreem let us smilingly know that they "Were glad he did." In fine, smoke the right cigar, use a cheap aftershave and grease up that head and you'll get laid.

As soon as I finally got clued into sex I couldn't help notice that there were lots of sex rays being beamed out straight men but not women (or guys like me). Not that pop culture didn't produce male sex icons. But male beauty wasn't being used to promote products (maybe a few women were hot for Mr. Clean but in restrospect he sure looked like spent his evening on Folsom Street).

And celebrity male nudity was might scarce (first faked nude I saw was of David Cassidy - no shame here, I enjoyed it).

As far as I know there've only been two magazines that claimed to present naked men for women's pleasure. Bob Guccione's short-lived Viva and Playgirl (whoever really is reading it).

Well, that's enough prologue.

"Empowering the Visual Woman" is the motto of Visual Sensations For Women.

Visual Sensations for Women is dedicated to bringing visual pleasures of the opposite gender to women. It explores and promotes those heterosexual situations in which men are presented to women naked in all their exposed glory and vulnerability, without the women themselves being nude. The clothed-female/naked-man ("CFNM") theme is integral to this site as turning the societal tables allow women the opportunity to observe all aspects of men on display naked and vulnerable, without affording the men the same.

Visual Sensations For Women

Dear Richard: The concept of women truly enjoying looking at naked men seems alien to me. Unlike men, (gay or otherwise)women do not enjoy sex for the mere pleasure like us men do. They use it as a tool to advance their agenda, be it relationships, job promotions, status or money. Women need a reason to have sex, just like they need a reason to look at naked men (ie: how many women do you know that actually read playgirl?)The men who truly understand this are the one's who are actually more successful in their relationships. Gay men understand this concept, which is why they have given up on women altogether, and good for them.
You hate women don't you?
I seem to spend half my life convincing people that women can be just as visual as men. I'm currently making a living out of offering erotica to women via my various websites, but I constantly hear negative opinion about how "women aren't visual" and "women don't get off on porn". I know plenty of women who really enjoy looking at naked men. I also think that society doesn't "train" women to ogle the opposite sex in the way that men are - while teen boys are sniggering over Playboys, teen girls are co-opted in the Cosmo culture. But give a woman a chance, and she WILL ogle :) Last month a study reported the fact that women are more easily turned on by porn films than men. For me, the issue isn't that women aren't visual, it's that most visual entertainment isn't tailored to their needs. My site http://www.forthegirls.com exists to offer women a better alternative :D
Of course women are turned on by naked men. We are programmed to do so. It feels to me that there is some kind of conspiracy going on whereby men, who control our society, do not want women looking at naked men. If I go to see naked lap dancers it is not that they turn me on. Rather that there are no naked men available to me and I must look at what is available. The naked men I am allowed to see, and this is usually in gay porn not aimed at women at all, I may be lucky to see an erection. How can a flaccid penis turn on a woman? We are accustomed to seeing them erect. Society cannot tolerate women looking at naked men that are not their partners. It is not that women are not visual. Believe me they are. They are just never given the chance to explore their visual sexuality except to look at naked women. I have had images of naked women thrown at me constantly all my life. Is there some desire to turn all women into lesbians? Not that I have anything whatsoever against lesbians. Indeed I have slowly moved over to their way of thinking. It is impossible for me as a woman to not be turned on by naked women. They are all that is available to me.
A few hundred years femininity became idealized: women were depicted as above fleshly delights (unlike, say, King Arthur's wife). There may have been a urge to control women in the beginning but nowadays it is so mixed up it is hard to separate. Some men fear women's sexual potentiality. An ability to have multiple orgasms, to possibly want them frightens some heterosexual men. Men who are insecure about their masculinity are afraid to be compared to well-built men, equally afraid of a woman seeing a larger penis. Those are my quick guesses.
go for it
I agree with Wintiskinti! Women get turned on by an erect penis. At least that's what my partner says! They may be curious of male nudity but there doesn't seem to be much of a turn on if the subject is not sexually excited!
For 50yrs I've been doing it with the lights on,and so I will continue...This is my first night on-line,and what do I punch in for search?Naked men-of course.Society may have their expectations et al,but bottom line I believe, as a whole, women are perceptive care givers because we like to use all of senses.Unfortunately,to keep women forbidden, virginal, maddona's, it meant keeping them veiled and haremed with a dowry hanging over their heads and a threat of big red A
Babs... I made For The Girls (http://www.forthegirls.com) for women like you! Good luck exploring your sexuality!!
been searching for the last two hours for info on pornography or erotic art geared towards women... if anyone has any links/books/mags to suggest please do! i've recently been alerted to a new mag out created by women for women - www.sweetactionmag.com. i haven't seen the actual publication yet but it looks smartly toungue in cheekish and because of this fun without compromising its get-off factor. thanks for the link to www.forthegirls.com, i just checked it out and am... peaked.
WOW, For the girls is GREAT!!!! But the worst part of this is that I would get upset if my husband was looking at such a site ( more the typical women in PORN ), however I think my husband would like as well. Heck anything sex that I would be open to he will be there ready. RICHARD- A personal note- LOVE YOUR site! There is something about a Gay Guy. I just love you guys! You guys are a gift from God (sorry I am not an atheist) kath
Kath, I'm sure there are attractive erotica sites for guys and, maybe most importantly, for couples. It takes digging since so many junk sites show up at the top of the Google listings. If you browse the Femmerotic sites you may find things the two of you can enjoy together.
I am a women and i think there is nothing wrong with looking at men i am all for it.. i wish more woment would speak up.. alot of women do they jsut don't want to be called a whore that is why they don't say anything... i masterbate and look at porn and i don't sleep around...
I'm probably coming late to this party, but this subject is of great personal interest, so I couldn’t help but comment... I'm a hetero female, always have been, have always loved porn, too. I adore erotica in all its forms and from an early age have found explicit sexual imagery intensely, well, stimulating. In the past couple years I've become deeply involved with the slash fiction community, and through that, discovered that gay male porn is a whole lot more fun for me than straight male porn (because – let's get this straight - it's pretty much all male, mmkay?). And I'm hardly the only one – what a number of my women friends are finding, by investigating what gay porn has to offer, is that they get to see beautiful men without having to deal with all the distasteful (to us!) and problematic images of women. Yeah, it's NOT perfect (don’t even get me started). But I'd so much rather watch two sleek guys tangled up together than some paunchy man pounding a silicon-inflated moan-machine with fake nails and stilettos. I took a look through the Femmerotic sites and their links that Richard mentioned – found a couple good things, but, I have to say, nearly *every* page I looked at featured pics of nekkid women. And you know what? It just doesn't interest me. I've seen it before, over and over - the boobs, the pubes. If these sites are supposedly offering hetero-erotica for women, then where are the penises??
gotham_syren, In the "Erotica" and "Lesbian, Gay, Bisexuals" there are some pointers to sites of pretty men without unclothed women.
Richard, it's me again. I really hope you don't mind me posting again, but the comments in this thread are quite revealing and interesting, and I'm glad I came back. Google's current update is making it very hard for women to find any kind of porn designed for them. But it is out there. It's what I do for a living, and it's something I passionately believe there should be more of: pro-sex, pro-female porn. I'm always told that women aren't visual and I know that's not true... the comments here reinforce that. Gotham's comments on the fakeness of M-F porn is a frustration to me too. I spend a lot of time looking for content that is female-friendly, and it's very rare. I admire what Heather is doing at Femmerotic, it's very well written and highbrow. In terms of naked men sites, there are a number of premium ones aimed at women, as well as numerous free ones available. These sites offer photos of solo naked men with erections, there's no hardcore gay sex on them. If I may, I'd like to post this URL to assist women with their search Naked Men Sites Listing
I'm chuffed to come across this discussion page. I am just trying to start some discussion on my own web page. I worte a dissertaion on Women and Porno back in Uni in 2001 and was particularly interested in what is available to women in the UK. i.e. not a lot, and neither (as in the US0 doies there appear to be a discourse on the subject and its peculiarities in the UK. I'm trying to think about what women want with a view to directing a porn film and burlesque style strip shows featuring men. It's hard as a woman to get started with this kind of work 'cos there's no reference point. All I can get my hands on is as mentioned above, Playgirl - which doesn't seem to feature the kind of men I would like to see. I also have a big issue with the internet - as a woman it's the safest, most comfortable place for me to access porn. But even the Playgirl site is just a holding page, last updated in October 2003. i would say there's a large, untapped profit market out there focusing on women's needs. I had a glance at the 'forthegirls' site but it doesn't appeal - it's got that shiny look to it of nice, clean healthy sex, maybe it's my skewed British perspective but nice, clean, 'couples porn' is not what I'm after so I don't feel inclined to shell out $20 a month. Also, there's so much free stuff out there for men I feel resentful! I'm interested to know more about what women want to see. Because I'd like to produce some stuff myself. But I can't seem to find anything that even resembles what I'm after. I'll be checking back here for responses and please check out my website and the messageboard on it to contact me and let me know if you're interested in my ideas or would like to contribute to a discussion for my research... I'm particularly interested to hear from women in the uk. http://www.emmajanerichards.com
i must apologise for the horrendous spelling mistakes in the previous passage! SORRY!
I think most women have no interest in erotica because they have no need for sexual stimulation. Women are the gate-keepers of sex in our culture, and can get it any time they want. Assertions that men control women's sexuality are laughable. How many men out there ever said no to a woman? For a woman to actually pay to look at men would be like an Eskimo paying for an ice cube.
Women have no need of sexual stimulation??? And you base this on what? Your own experiences?
I lead a human sexuality class for teens, and stumbled onto your web site by searching "naked men". An anonymous question was raised in class about what magazines, other than Playgirl, might have images of naked men. I see plenty of web sites, but are there other magazines out there that cater to this, either for heterosexual females or for gay males? I ask about both because I like to provide as much balance as possible for the youth. Any assistance would be appreciated.
I am a heterosexual man. I have asked nearley eery woamn i ever dated this question. I ve asked many Psychologists, Read Kinseys report. I always get the same answer. "YES!!!! Us women do get turned on by seing a naked man, but just like Men they need to be good looking , good body ETC." A LOT of men seem to think women dont like this cause they obvioulsy jusge female reactions to nudity and get embarrrassement confused with disinterest. Many women lie, so as not to seem shallow or like a slut. 80% of Women enjoy and get turned on often by an attractive Nude man. I will say though that women are seen as sex objects by the media and the confusion of all this is fuelled by this. Confuses then Men-The women fell like sluts for admitting sometimes they like naked Men Its getting so much better though. There should be more on Tv of Naked Men give women chance to experience what us guys have for years. Then lets take a survey!
To teacher - as mentioned above, a new hard copy magazine has just been launched by two US women www.sweetactionmag.com I used to write for Australian Women's Forum, which was a fab mag that had naked men, however censorship helped force it's closure in 2001. Until that point it had been a popular mag for over 10 years, at it's heyday it had a circulation of over 500,000 a month (a lot for Australia) I know there was another mag for women in Europe that featured couples, but I can't for the life of me remember the name. I think it's Viva... In terms of hard copy adult mags, the internet is cutting off demand, because it provides anonymity. It's also a lot cheaper. It would be fab to have a hard copy of For The Girls but the fact is it's cheaper and easier to have it online.
As an older woman, I think it's great that some-one is finally putting pictures of Naked Men out for women to see. Women do get turned on by a beautifull male body, and those that say they don't!! well I think their not honest, I also get tired of seeing naked women, because the ones that are shown are all ways so beautifull, don"t get me wrong but they never show an average looking women. Bring on the men!!!!!
