Women & men's butts

I think male butts are mighty nice. An article suggests one reason women are portrayed as admiring them strongly is popular culture's fear of admitting that women also enjoy what is up front. The assumption being that straight men are spooked by the idea of women thinking about their penis. Given the wealth accumulated by some penis spammers I guess there's at least a little truth to that.

"The media just doesn't know the true nature of women's sexuality and, frankly, many women are still afraid to be up front about it," says Helen Fisher an anthropologist and expert in human sexuality with Rutgers University.

Fisher says it is safer for society to see women as fixated on the male behind. But studies have shown it is the other side of the male anatomy, the penis, that many women are really interested in, she says.

"Women do think about what is up front. But it is not safe to says so (because women fear they will) look slutty," she says.

I came across this site by chance, and while I'm not exactly sure what kind of comments you're expecting, let me just say that the male butt is a source of fascination for me. When I was a seven-year-old boy, I used to meet with my across-the-street neighbor, Tony, and we'd sniff each other's butts and masturbate. We somehow learned how to masturbate together at that prepubescent age. So this is all to say that I've always had a curiosity about what a man smells like in the depths of his most private place. And I really do think the asshole is the most private place for a man (or woman). Bare buttocks are more common in movies than penises, but an actor will flash his penis in a movie before he will show us his asshole. The asshole is a source of humanity, of potential embarrassment. So to gain access to someone's scent is touching on something private and very primal. When I was a freelance copy editor in 1993, my first assignment was to Americanize a collection of Charles Darwin's writings. One of his essays went into great detail about how the male baboon displays his butt to females to attract and excite them sexually. I got pretty excited myself reading about this style of primate sexuality. Humans are primates, after all, so how much of our attraction to butts is coded into our genes. And what does it mean? I'll leave off there for now.
