An man escapes rape charges with the claim that he suffers a rare affliction that causes him to have sex while asleep and can't control his actions.
A sleep expert testified at his trial that Mr Luedecke suffered from sexomnia, a sort of sleep walking that includes sexual acts, likely brought on by alcohol, sleep deprivation and genetics.
The man had previously had "sleep sex" with four girlfriends, the court heard.

I dont know if i agree with using Sexomnia as a defense….being someone who HAS this disorder I know first hand the extent it can take you in the night. Tho when things get fairly intense I know myself, I wake up and realize whats going on. Would something as extreme as being fought off by an unwilling partner wake one up?

I have this “disorder” as well, I normally wake up before I have an orgasm. My wife (who has a playful attitude when it comes to this) has given me oral sex during my sleep, while listening to me talk about what is going on in my dream. I do wake up before an orgasm, but sometimes it is just moments before an orgasm. She has said on many occasions that she woudln’t want me to be asleep around anyone else.
If this were to happen around anyone else by the time I got close enough to an orgasm that would wake me up it would be too late, I would have already raped someone.
My thought on this guy in Canada is that it could have been me, however I can see how it would be hard to believe this. Using this as a defense may open up a whole new can of worms. All I can say is thank God it wasn’t me!

This is just another prime example of people refusing to accept responsibility for their own screw ups. If you ask me, the man who claimed to have this “DISORDER” is a habitual liar and a dirty scumbag. His lawyers and QUACK A$$ shrinky dinkys are even lower then that to buy into this BS!!! i have a similar problem according to my partner.I simulate sex and make all the moans and groans as if i am having sex with someone.The thing is i do not remember a thing.My partner thinks i am being unfathful.This is going on every night.

THis situation with sexomnia certainly does happen!!! I am an old married woman for over 35 years and my husband has started doing this for the past ten years. While it can be extremely annoying to say the least, he is most certainly very sound asleep!!!! While we do know a great deal about neuroscience, there is still a great deal we do not know. Girls should not be in any position that they are falling asleep near a man to begin with. What happened to being circumspect in your own behavior? Talk about being responsible for one’s actions. The girl should not have been drinking and then sleeping next to this guy to begin with!!!! Girls wake up and learn to behave like respectable adults. These sort of things won’t happen to you then!

As a husband whose wife first kicked me out of her bed and now out of our house, I can only assume this is a real disorder. I do have a since of something was happening, but not what exactly. She says I was progressively more aggresive over time (maybe a few times over 2 or 3 years). I didn’t realize how aggressive until she warned me once & then kicked me out. I since found out through a sleep study that I have extreme sleep apnia & it is probably related to the sexomnia. I’m afraid to have a relationship now.
