Sperm for lunch
» Heterogeneous
Shirako is one Singaporean delicacy that possibly won't become a fad in the USofA.
The puffer fish sperm, or shirako in Japanese, comes in the form of a pair of 10cm-long white sacs.
Santoro Japanese Restaurant sushi chef Chong Y K said fish sperm is an acquired taste, not something many people take to very well after their first bite. Still, he recommends eating it raw.
This creamy-white delicacy melts in your mouth and is practically tasteless, save for a tinge of bitterness.
Deadly, ugly? Serve it right up
