That a fourteen year old girl has been charged as a pornographer for posting photographs of herself on MySpace is an example of how badly out of control America’s sex negativity has become. And the whole structure of labeling and treating individuals as sex offenders - as if all sexual misbehaviors are identical - is damnably stupid and damaging.
The teen, whose name has not been released because of her age, was arrested and charged with possession of child pornography and distribution of child pornography. She was released to her mother’s custody.
If convicted of the distribution charge, she would be forced to register with the state as a sex offender under Megan’s Law, said state Attorney General Anne Milgram.
