I (heart) my vagina

Two Winona Minnesota high school students were suspended for wearing t-shirts stating their love of their vaginas.

One was Carrie Rethlefsen, 18, who touched off a high-profile free-speech debate at the high school in February when she continued to wear a button that read “I (heart) my vagina” despite the threats of school officials who called it offensive.

Students rallied to her cause, and yesterday about 45 of them gathered in front of the school before class. Several women wore “I (heart) my vagina” shirts while male students wore a version that said, “I support your vagina.”

Clearly this has no place in a school setting. it's sexual and offensive to others. What if a guy were wearing a button that said "I love vaginas"? or "I want your vagina"?

Steve- The shirts did not say "I (heart) your dick" so therefore, "I want your vagina" is a completely different subject. A vagina is an organ and does not have to be sexual, granted it is used for sex. A woman should be proud, and the most recognizable characteristic of a woman in this patriarchal society is her vagina. Shall we even mention that that's what you came out of??? PS. Freedom of Speech.

I go to Winona Senior High(I'm a Senior this year), and I think the kids who started it just loved the publicity they were getting. They could care less about the whole "movement." Today, I seen a girl wearing one of the same shirts, and the teacher made her cover it up. No fuss was made.
