Attention bisexual men: you don't exist

To be fair my own identification is pansexual (e.g., I find males, females, transgendered persons all desirable). But I can't help but feel that the statement that there are no truly bisexual men foolish and wrong.

A sample based on 101 men is questionable at the outset.

Senior author of the study, Michael Bailey, says, "Bisexual male behaviour certainly exists, but the study suggests that a bisexual orientation, an actual sexual preference for both men and women, does not exist in men. If such men exist, they are certainly very rare and we didn't find them."

Bisexual men You are 100% right. A man that are bisexual prefer men and use women to fall back to if they do not get lucky. It is unnatural for a man to enter another man. Bisexual women on the other hand, find it natural to be penetrated by men and natural to be touched by other women. So only women understand and realy enjoy being bisexual. If bisexual men kept women as their first preferance and just toyed with other men as an alternative, yes then they are bisexual. The Bisexual women do not penetrate with her own organs, both men and women, they are being penetrated and just play with the rest. Therefore men are either hetro or gay. I am not attracted to another man in the least but under the right circumstances, I will and have, participated in oral and anal sex (both giving and receiving) with another man. So far the right circumstances have involved an interaction with a woman in a MMF sort of situation. I enjoy giving and receiving oral sex to another man but I probably wouldn’t do it as an activity just for itself. Would that be considered bisexual or just kinky?

Hm. I don't think the question is whether or not they exist, it's whether or not bisexuality is considered a seperate orientation along with hetero & homosexual. The study is saying that most people are predominately gay or straight, but can definitely have bisexual behaviours. From my (admittedly limited) experience, I have never met a self-proclaimed bisexual who did not lean more one way than another. Nevertheless, it definitely is not the strongest research out there, but it does raise a good discussion.

Ah, I proclaim myself as a bisexual person, but it is true, I have a slight preference for females. I have however been more intimate with males then with females over the years, why? I do not know, it is easyer for me to let my guard down I guess. Ok, I can love both males and females. And of all tyoes. Hmm, maybe bisexual is not the right word, I prever to look at myself as sexual.

I personally do not believe in labels, and I feel it is necessary that we free our minds from them as soon as possible. I identified for years as a bisexual male, not because I felt that thatwas exactly what I was, but because the closest thing to myself. In reality, sexuality is far more complex than a word or a name. Labels put people into boxes that they do not and will never fit into. In my extensive experience, I have found that ultimately, there are no true boundaries to stand the test of time. And no matter what people say, the rules don't apply to everyone, and in the right situation, anything goes. So no, bisexual people period do not exist. And neither do heterosexuals or homosexuals or transgendered people. The only labels I am even somewhat inclined to believe are the more open, non-specific categories such as intersex, androgynous, and/or pansexual. However, in the battle to free our minds from systematic and categorical oppression, I believe it is of utmost importance to dispose of all labels, once and for all. ***VIVA LA REVOLUCION***

This comment is directed towards "The Sentinal", or maybe I should say "The Hypocrite". Researching only 101 men is flat out silly. They could have at least interviewed 1000 men to find a much more accurate answer. So it is not 100% right. One of your quotes was "It is unnatural for a man to enter another man." So basically gay men are unnatural too? Or anything sexual between 2 men is unnatural? And do you know anything about the male prostate and exactly where it's located? It's perfectly natural for a man to enter another man and get an orgasm. The only reason there are no men coming forward about bisexuality is because there is a far more greater stigma towards bisexual males then females. We live in a straight man's world where the idea of 2 women is labelled sexy, but the idea of 2 men is either wrong or disgusting. And because of that, it's many women like you who follow that. Yes, you FOLLOW and do whatever makes a hetero man happy. That's why more men do not come forward on this issue. Plus those men get labelled 'gay' right on the spot! A woman barely gets that label when she confesses to a fling with another girl. But when a guy even gets touchy feely with another man, he's totally gay in everyone else's eyes. I think homophobia plays a big part in that way of thinking. You know, it is funny how you stated that you are glad to be female and you have both sides of the coin when it comes to sexuality. I think the study might have been skewed by the pressure to accept one category. I'm South African, and the predominant attitude here is that proclaiming bisexuality is merely, in the words of a gay friend "a cheap excuse to fuck around". In other words, bisexuals are all actually gay, without the courage to admit it. As a straight guy who is married to a bisexual woman (bisexual women are, in my limited experience, much better in bed), I find this attitude kind of weird. It kind of pisses me off, because I think a lot of people are 'forced to be gay', particularly here, because all men who fuck men get labelled 'gay'. It's fucked up. Human sexuality is essentially mutable: the vast majority of us are not 'pure gay' or 'pure straight' and we just go where the winds of prevailing societal attitudes blow us (heh heh, pun intended). Which is why sexual preferences vary so much from society to society and era to era. I'm sure Plato looked on guys who didn't like a bit of the old meat with their fish as a little odd, and some societies make ritual homosexuality a condition for entry into manhood (at which point the little cocksucker has the right to marry and have kids). Man, this whole thing is just a crashing bore. It's like persecuting people for liking wholewheat bread. Why are we so hung up on who our neighbours are boinking?

Sentanai, what rock did you crawl out from under. Women may be superior to men, I am unprepared to defend or refute the superiority of either gender, frankly both have a lot of room for improvement. However, if you claim that the reason is in the "naturalness" of lesbian relationships, the last time I checked, neither could reproduce without the other. Maybe you are aware of some late breaking biological discovery of which I haven't been informed. Oh and as for your other claim that men prefer one or the other, are you saying that isn't true of females as well. It's called the Kinsey scale for a reason. It isn't yes or no, it's a range of sexual preferences that everybody falls into. I would imagine that a very, very, very, very small number of people fall right at the center whether they be male or female. Frankly, your neandertal and marginally polysylabic post is one I would expect from a male. Women tend to work their aguements a little better and communicate their thoughts much more clearly.

I'd hazard a guess that all people are bisexual at first. It's the people around you, mostly friends and sexual education that influence you. And then you choose to be either straight or gay. You are tought to choose. You are tought that you must be either straight or gay (like in the article). It's like that since the Middle Ages ;) Literally, as ancient Greeks were much more modern in that subject.

bravo 'SEXDRIVER' you're telling it close to reality. My own feelings that sex is sex, demonstrated by various other species on this planet and orientation is more social and cultural than true fact. I have always thought it hypocritical of men to accept and be turned on by women loving women [I am too, no doubt about it] but deny the same for themselves. Men do love 'contact' sports, slapping each other on the ass, hugging for a game well played. Well guys, face it, you and I and all your men and women friends are all sexual creatures. A side comment might be that the sexual organ or that being used does not differentiate sexes, just good or bad sex. Sorry girls, you'll have to accept, hahaha, that there are bisexual men too. I am male and have only experienced anal sex once [willingly and sober] but if it is going to be as good as the first time, then come on there handsome and show me your weapon. I never knew a man could be completely satisfied until I met this beautiful guy. He wasn't really, but what he could do definitely was beautiful. ALL MEN ARE BISEXUAL AS ARE WE ALL. People who hate because of sexual preference do so more from their fears about own masculinity than in actual outrage at the victim. What business is it of anyone's anyway. No sensible person would give credence to it at all.

Okay, differing opinion here. I read several comments of the tone "bisexual males are actually gay but will have sex with women as a fallback". Based on how easy it is to get laid if you're looking for a gay man to sleep with compared to how difficult it is to find a woman to do so, I think the reverse is more logical. I certainly would fall into this category. I'm married and if we divorced, I'd look for another woman to eventually be either married to or permanently involved with. However, when I stray from my marriage I usually end up finding a male lover *because they're easier*. Honestly, I'd prefer to find a woman, but women in general are less interested in casual sex than men are, making them less plentiful - at least on pickup web sites. Sorry to be so crass, but I'm interested in the community's opinion of someone who leans strongly toward prefering women, but will use men "in a pinch".

Nothing uncommon. On the most crass level it happens in prison every day. I know from a comment you left on Pansexual Sodomite that you aren’t tainted with homophobia. As long as you are upfront with the guys - i.e., that you are only looking for an orgasm – then I can’t see any reason to fault you. (I’m uncomfortable with most people who cheat on their spouses but that is a different issue.) I actually knew a very femme guy who was 99% bottom who would have sex with women “in a pinch.” If money weren’t a problem would you rather have sex with a beautiful, skilled female sex worker or a guy who was doing it because he found you sexually attractive?

Oh, I exist allright. To Hell with anyone who says otherwise. I actually find both genders equal in the ability to arouse me. Simple as that. Sure, it has caused me problems in the past...my girlfriend tossed me out when she caught me with a guy. Before everyone says "AH HA!" my Boyfriend of 8 years sent me packing when he caught me with a woman. For me, it has just been hard to settle down. I want both but can't have it that way. I seem to spend my life going back and forth, never making any headway. As much as I am glad that EVERYBODY is sexy to me, I suppose it would be easier if I was just plain old gay or straight. I guess this is my lot in life...no one is safe from me, ha ha.
