Gay and married but celibate?

So gay priests can live together as long as they don't allow themselves the intimacy that heterosexual priest have with their spouses?
According to the Times, the proposal suggested that homosexual clergy in the Church of England would be allowed to "marry" their partners, provided that they have given an assurance to their diocesan bishop that they will abstain from sex. A breach of the rules is expected to result in disciplinary action or the possible suspension of clergy.

Catholic priests aren’t allowed to marry at all, no matter what gender they intend on marrying. It’s part of being in the order.
While it is an interesting idea, I don’t see why it would ever be put into effect as it would go against nearly two thousand years of tradition.

Actually, Tracey, the Church of England is Protestant, not Catholic, and even the vow of abstinance in the catholic priesthood is relativly new.
The Church of England was started by one of the kings so he could divorce his wife because she had not born him a son and he wished to try again with a new wife.
As for the article, I don’t think this will ever work. If a marriage for love isn’t a “full marriage” then there is no such thing. The Church is afraid of change, and they know they are stagnating. What happened to all that preaching about “acceptance”?
