Lindsay Lohan Makes Lesbianism Popular?
That hitherto heterosexual women might be gay or bisexual is one of those recurrantly popular topics: remember hasbians? And a staple of pop culture because of the various straight male fantasies. I don’t know if straight women find female bisexuality titillating. Some claim girl-on-girl sex “turns their stomach.”
Are women more sexually fluid and flexible? I can easily believe that feminine social conditioning might be slightly less severe in this instance than male gender identity. Notions of maleness and masculinity can be almost poisonous for some women.
Certainly nothing is new about women having sex with women, but we’ve arrived at a moment in the popular culture when it all suddenly seems almost fashionable — or at least, acceptable.
