Chicago, Nov. 25--In the ongoing effort to determine whether sexual orientation is hard-wired, University of Chicago scientists have used high-tech imaging to confirm that the hypothalamus - the sex center in the brain - functions differently in gay men than in heterosexual men. ...
Using positron emission tomography (PET) to monitor the neurochemical function of the hypothalamus in eight exclusively heterosexual men and eight exclusively homosexual men, Moltz found a significantly greater level of activity in straight men compared with gays. The hypothalamus is thought to regulate sexual response and behavior, according to animal studies. "Whether this neurochemical difference is the cause of, or a consequence of, or something that accompanies this kind of heterosexuality and homosexuality is yet to be determined," Moltz said. "But it's the strongest research I know to suggest that it might be hard-wired."

If one is born gay, one is not necessarily normal or healthy. One of my brothers is mentally retarded, but is not “normal.” My friend’s child has muscular dystrophy, but is not “healthy.” Another of my brothers is gay, I accept that. But if homosexuality is a physiological disorder, a disease, shouldn’t we be seeking a treatment or cure for this birth defect?

Chas, your point is a good one, but unlike those with mental retardation and muscular dystrophy, homosexuals are perfectly capable of functioning in society normally. Ultimately, homosexuality is no more a disease than having green eyes. And seeking to cure it just as silly.

One’s disease, if one terms homosexuality a disease, is not always obvious in many men. These men are not “normal” because they are forced in the USA and other countries to live a lie and deny their true sexual feelings. This is stressful, the cause of pain to other people who refuse to allow gay people to be visible in our society. The fact that my gay partner was blind was not too much easier to handle than the fact that he was gay and wanted to hold my hand to guide him in public. We were looked upon as outcasts, and told many times that it would “look nicer” if he used his cane. People as gays who are hated by other people cannot live normal lives. Jesus Christ was not normal. In one sense, he was a man with a penis and unmarried, as per the Holy Bible (King James version). He had to posses a penis to be circumcised as clearly stated in scripture. One wonders how Jesus was discussed when he was without wife and ran about in public with a bunch of twelve men. Mercy!
