In one film marketed for abstinence programs called "No Second Chance," a teenager asks a school nurse, "What if I want to have sex before I get married?" The nurse replies, "Well, I guess you'll just have to be prepared to die. ...
One of the four votes against the morning-after pill was from W. David Hager, a University of Kentucky obstetrician-gynecologist appointed by Bush to chair the FDA's Reproductive Health Drugs Advisory Committee.
In his private practice, Hager refuses to prescribe contraceptives to unmarried women. He also wrote a book advising women who suffer from premenstrual syndrome to seek help from reading the Bible and praying.
