Alessia di Virgilio speaks of the purchase of her first vibrator.
“I went home and used it and when I had my first orgasm I just freaked out. I called up my friends and asked them if that’s what it was,” recalls di Virgilio, laughing.
She has muscular dystrophy and it wasn’t until she entered her twenties that she felt empowered to explore her sexuality and realized that there would be men who desired her.
Sexual empowerment was finally hers. Then, to top it off, she met Kirk — and love was no longer something only other people possessed.
For the first time in her life, di Virgilio felt comfortable enough to be naked in front of someone who wasn’t her doctor or medical attendant.
