Darwinian birth control: acne
• Sexual Health
Dr Terence Kealey, a skin specialist at the University of Buckingham posits the idea that humans have acne by way of Darwinian natural selection, i.e., that it is as Richard Dawkins might put it makes us good ancestors.
So spots are a cunning way of putting off potential lovers and, therefore, avoiding having children at too young an age. This is because we are hard-wired to fancy only healthy people and spots give people the appearance of illness despite there being none.
Of course many people have sex with pimples. My own unwarranted feeling about our earliest ancestors is that lacking Playboy magazine and endless television commercials for personal hygiene products they were even less selective than horny men and women are today.
