Social apocalypse is upon us: teens have sex!

Zealots, Crusaders, Pests

So silly, sad and destructive: all these parents and professional moralizers who delude themselves about adolescent sexuality.

Hey, mom, dad and professional prude: biology evolved well in advance of most scanty social organization. Good for you and me because if our ancestors hadn't been horny at a young age none of us would be alive today.

And even in times of that by contemporary notions would constitute only the most threadbare civilization - like all those bossy, self-righteous characters in the old testament - young men and women had sexual relations. They would've been merely baffled by the limitations imposed by the post-industrial revolution middle class.

They've always done it. They are doing it. And will continue to do it. However surprised poor Tom Wolfe (hard to remember when he was a joy to read) and you may be.

Mentioning teens and sex in the same sentence, if you're not condemning them, often has negative consequences. Judith Levine, whose book Harmful to Minors (University of Minnesota Press, 2002) argued that children and teens can enjoy sexual pleasure safely, received death threats, and Surgeon General Joycelyn Elders was let go in 1994 after she advocated that masturbation be taught in schools. Elders understands that visions of kids waiting until they're legal adults to test out their libidos are strictly utopian.

Teens' Sexual Rights

So, Ms., Miss, Mrs., Mr. - when did you lose your virginity? Did you have a good time? Did you regret it? Let me know.

18 No, I do not regret it. Had an okay time.. Was kind of too awkward and stuff to really enjoy.. but like.. It got awesome better the next few times
The same age for me. It was awkward the first time as well. But once I finally found myself naked in bed with another person the subsequent experiences were vastly better.
19, Definitely not something I'll regret, despite the pain and awkwardness of trying to figure out how everything fits together. Denying youth the right to learn about their sexuality and enjoy it also keeps them from learning about being responsible in one of the parts of life which require the most responsibility. It's just ridiculous, really.
15. Didn't have a particularly good time, but I don't regret it.
12, i was raped.

How do you feel?
